Be inspired by the art of anatomy
Founded in 2010 by Andrew Sinclair and Diane Coates, The Sculpture School was borne from a desire to share the professional skills of realist figurative sculpture to the next generation of sculptors.
Our school is based in a spacious, inspiring purpose-built studio in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside, in the southwest of England. The Sculpture School uniquely shares the same location as world-renowned realist sculptor Andrew Sinclair’s professional sculpture workshop, which offers students a rare insight into the world of commissioned sculpture. We are a centre of excellence delivering a wide range of courses in all aspects of realist sculpture, for both novice and professional sculptors alike.
Our inspiring studio courses are held in a sanctuary of calm respite within stunning Devon countryside. For those who cannot travel to Devon, or who wish to continue their development at home, we also offer a growing variety of online sculpture courses. Our online store offers a complete range of professional sculpture tools, many of which have been designed and produced by Andrew in response to his frustration at not being able to find the professional quality of tools he demands for his work.
We are dedicated to promoting the art of realist sculpture and are proud to say that over the last decade we have become the country’s leading centre for realistic human and animal sculpture.
Learn from the best
Enjoy a unique opportunity to learn from one of the world’s top figurative sculptors. Andrew Sinclair MRSS SWAc is recognised as a master of world-class figurative sculpture and is one of the world’s leading realist figurative sculptors working today. Andrew teaches his unique ‘narrative realism’ to students all over the world. He is a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors and is an Academician with the Southwest Academy of Art.
Working to commission for over 30 years, Andrew’s sculptures are in collections across the globe and his recent public commissions include The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment Memorial Sculpture unveiled in Halifax in 2019, and the David Bowie Sculpture in Aylesbury Buckinghamshire in 2018.
Andrew’s sculptures are unique in their highly skilled attention to detail and this aspect of his work makes them resonate with life, adding a quality of realism rarely seen in contemporary sculpture today.
