DESCRIPTION:This Animal Portrait workshop offers a unique approach to animal portraiture that captures the individuality of the animal. You will learn how to create a generic animal face through Andrew Sinclair’s ground-breaking Design Criteria methodology. \nOnce the essence of the animal has been understood and modelled in clay\, the specific characteristics of your animal subject will be applied to your sculpture. This approach is so important; giving you a strong foundation on which to build your developing sculpture skills and techniques. \nIt enables you to avoid just copying what you think you see\, so you can create a beautifully seen animal portrait way beyond your expectations. \nAll materials\, clay\, armatures\, back-irons\, course manual and refreshments are included. Please bring your own lunch. \nWe offer accommodation on site in the form of two beautiful luxury Shepherd’s Huts and an Artist’s Garret Studio. DESCRIPTION:Level 1 (or Level 2 for those who have completed Level 1) \nCentral to all figurative courses are the concepts of Dynamic Energy Curves (DEC) and Rapid Sketch Technique (RST). DEC is a proven and recognised method developed by Andrew Sinclair MRSS\, and is unique to The Sculpture School. The method enables sculptors to truly reflect the anatomy of the human form every time. \nExperienced sculptors find DEC and RST takes their work to the next level and frequently say they wish they had learnt the technique much earlier in their career. \nIf you are a beginner\, DEC and RST will be your foundation to creating sculptures true to the human form. More to the point you will be well on your way to achieving this goal by the end of your course. \nThere is little doubt that DEC and RST and their associated methods are a major reason why over 80% of experienced and beginning sculptors return to The Sculpture School for more learning; feedback from our students shows that they also enjoy and value the learning experience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe course is a four day workshop where you will learn about DEC\, RST\, the design and form of the human body and the associated techniques and skills of clay application. During the whole of the workshop you will receive individual coaching geared to your experience and individual requirements. \nThe Level 2 course is designed for returning figurative sculpture students who have completed Level 1\, wanting to breathe further life and expression into a figure in motion or ‘contra-posto’. Using our DEC™ methodology and extended anatomical knowledge introduced during the workshop\, you will use your newly acquired skills\, dexterity and refinement to create a beautifully proportioned figure. \nThis workshop will start by revising your anatomy and physiology knowledge\, and then take it further. Using design and DEC™ and one to one coaching you will learn how to add a feeling of zest and movement into the figure’s pose. Revision and practice in your ‘painting in clay’ techniques will be honed to gain the refinement that will take your work to the next level. \nWith a life model as your reference you will apply your learning to create a clay figure in an anatomical pose (Level 1) or contra-posto pose (Level 2) to take home. \nAll materials\, clay\, armatures\, back-irons\, course manual and refreshments are included.
