This Portrait Sculpture course will teach you the techniques and skills to correctly capture that vital true likeness in your sculptures. \nCore to the methods taught during the courses is the proven Sinclair Rapid Sketch Technique (RST)\, as well as measurement and proportional anatomy\, all unique to The Sculpture School. These unique methods\, along with our specially designed portrait armature and one to one coaching\, will give you the capability to capture the true likeness and the spirit of your subjects\, whatever your experience. \nAs with most Sculpture School Courses our Portrait Sculpture workshops receive very positive feedback\, with over 80% of students returning to learn more. DESCRIPTION:Level 1 (or Level 2 for those who have completed Level 1) \nCentral to all figurative courses are the concepts of Dynamic Energy Curves (DEC) and Rapid Sketch Technique (RST). DEC is a proven and recognised method developed by Andrew Sinclair MRSS\, and is unique to The Sculpture School. The method enables sculptors to truly reflect the anatomy of the human form every time. \nExperienced sculptors find DEC and RST takes their work to the next level and frequently say they wish they had learnt the technique much earlier in their career. \nIf you are a beginner\, DEC and RST will be your foundation to creating sculptures true to the human form. More to the point you will be well on your way to achieving this goal by the end of your course. \nThere is little doubt that DEC and RST and their associated methods are a major reason why over 80% of experienced and beginning sculptors return to The Sculpture School for more learning; feedback from our students shows that they also enjoy and value the learning experience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe course is a four day workshop where you will learn about DEC\, RST\, the design and form of the human body and the associated techniques and skills of clay application. During the whole of the workshop you will receive individual coaching geared to your experience and individual requirements. \nThe Level 2 course is designed for returning figurative sculpture students who have completed Level 1\, wanting to breathe further life and expression into a figure in motion or ‘contra-posto’. Using our DEC™ methodology and extended anatomical knowledge introduced during the workshop\, you will use your newly acquired skills\, dexterity and refinement to create a beautifully proportioned figure. \nThis workshop will start by revising your anatomy and physiology knowledge\, and then take it further. Using design and DEC™ and one to one coaching you will learn how to add a feeling of zest and movement into the figure’s pose. Bronze casting expert David Snoo Wilson will be bringing his ‘Travelling Foundry’ to the school along with his knowledge and expertise to inspire you. \nWhatever your previous experience or skill level\, David will guide you through all the intricate processes\, enabling you to master the techniques of this specialist art\, which dates back to the Romans. \nThis introductory Bronze casting course is very fast paced and a time intensive process so you are advised to do some mental preparation of what you want to cast into bronze. Generally\, the scale worked to is hand-sized item or smaller. You are welcome to bring your own moulds\, otherwise we will be using a wax-like clay to sculpt with.\nThe first day will focus on wax working\, while the second will focus on making the investment mould. The final 2 days will be the bronze pour and metal finishing. \nAt the end of the course you will take home your bronze casts.

This Portrait Sculpture course will teach you the techniques and skills to correctly capture that vital true likeness in your sculptures. \nCore to the methods taught during the courses is the proven Sinclair Rapid Sketch Technique (RST)\, as well as measurement and proportional anatomy\, all unique to The Sculpture School. These unique methods\, along with our specially designed portrait armature and one to one coaching\, will give you the capability to capture the true likeness and the spirit of your subjects\, whatever your experience. \nAs with most Sculpture School Courses our Portrait Sculpture workshops receive very positive feedback\, with over 80% of students returning to learn more. Many of these especially site how they enjoyed and valued the learning experienced. \nThe course is a four day workshop where you will learn our specific measuring system\, and anatomical ‘rules of thumb’ and RST. Referring to a live model on day one you will take on the sculpture skills to accurately portray the subject. During the workshop you will apply these skills by working through the stages of creating a portrait bust\, and learn how to construct realistic facial features. As the workshop progresses\, you will continue to hone your newly acquired skills by applying methods of clay application. \nLevel 2 will take your skills to the next stage\, this is a masterclass in portrait sculpture techniques. DEC is a proven and recognised method developed by Andrew Sinclair MRSS\, and is unique to The Sculpture School. The method enables sculptors to truly reflect the anatomy of the human form every time. \nExperienced sculptors find DEC and RST takes their work to the next level and frequently say they wish they had learnt the technique much earlier in their career. \nIf you are a beginner\, DEC and RST will be your foundation to creating sculptures true to the human form. More to the point you will be well on your way to achieving this goal by the end of your course. \nThere is little doubt that DEC and RST and their associated methods are a major reason why over 80% of experienced and beginning sculptors return to The Sculpture School for more learning; feedback from our students shows that they also enjoy and value the learning experience. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe course is a four day workshop where you will learn about DEC\, RST\, the design and form of the human body and the associated techniques and skills of clay application. During the whole of the workshop you will receive individual coaching geared to your experience and individual requirements. \nThe Level 2 course is designed for returning figurative sculpture students who have completed Level 1\, wanting to breathe further life and expression into a figure in motion or ‘contra-posto’. Using our DEC™ methodology and extended anatomical knowledge introduced during the workshop\, you will use your newly acquired skills\, dexterity and refinement to create a beautifully proportioned figure. \nThis workshop will start by revising your anatomy and physiology knowledge\, and then take it further. Using design and DEC™ and one to one coaching you will learn how to add a feeling of zest and movement into the figure’s pose. DESCRIPTION:This three day moulding and casting workshop is designed to teach you the essential skills of moulding and casting using current industry methods. \nThis 3 day workshop will be led by our experienced moulding & casting technician\, Ross Andrew\, giving you first hand opportunities to understand the complete sculptural procedures. For this workshop you will need to bring a finished clay portrait head sculpture or similar sized sculptural piece. \nWhatever your previous experience or skill level\, Ross will guide you through all the technical processes\, enabling you to master the alchemy of moulding and casting so you understand the finishing processes of creating a sculpture. You will be taught to mould\, cast and finish your own piece.
