Our courses are designed and taught by one of the UK’s top figurative sculptors, Andrew Sinclair MRSS SWAc, from our purpose-created sculpture studios in the heart of the beautiful Devon countryside. Sculpting alongside Andrew as he teaches each step of the process, you will learn to create a realistic clay figure. Using methods unique to The Sculpture School, Andrew’s friendly, informative approach makes learning easy, enabling sculptors to accurately create a realistically proportioned figure every time.

Figurative Sculpture Workshop Level 1 – £745.00
During this 4-day course you will learn the skills needed to sculpt a realistically proportioned human figure from clay. The course is the ideal foundation for the beginner, but also offers a level of anatomical and sculptural knowledge invaluable for the professional. Our focus is on the learning process and providing you with a professional approach to sculpting.
By referencing classical rules of proportion, design and anatomy, this course is both innovative and informative. Benefitting from over 30 years’ professional knowledge you will leave inspired and invigorated. Included in the workshop is a fascinating anatomy demonstration with a life-model. Andrew’s unique approach inspires and encourages you to create exciting, beautiful, realist sculpture time and time again. By the end of the workshop you will take home a figure to continue working on if you wish.
All materials you need are supplied. Daily lunches are provided. Please note your sculpture cannot be fired.
Figurative Sculpture Workshop Level 2 – £745
This 4-day course is a masterclass for the experienced sculptor. You will have already taken our Level 1 Figurative Sculpture Workshop. This course builds on the skills and techniques from Level 1, with the emphasis on how measurements change once the body is in motion. Using our unique methods, you will learn how to breathe life and energy into a figure ‘in motion’. From the initial design and construction of your armature, with a greater understanding of anatomy, you will create a realistic human figure to scale, full of vitality and movement, taking your skills to a more professional level. By the end of the course, you will have a beautifuuly proportioned clay figure, which you may wish to continue working on at home.
